Gambero Rosso, Wines of Italy 2024
A wine of fine stuff the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione ’19. Its aromas cross fruity, floral and spicy references, with a nice refreshing balsamic note. In the mouth, the sip is articulate, savory and lively. Well made Chianti Classico ’21, with pleasantly savory drinking.

Fattoria Santo Stefano, on the so-called right bank of Greve (although it is actually quite far from the Greve River), is a patchwork of relatively cool sites bordering an expanse of uncultivated woods in the Chianti Mountains. Surreally seductive strawberry and raspberry fruit have a carbonic tone, augmented by mushroom, fresh ginger and brewer’s yeast. This energy subsides on the palate, with ginger and quinine gradually giving way to raspberry cordial and marmalade. The tannins remain grainy and exposed once the delicate softness of the front fades.
